I know where to rack these. They look exactly like the ones AP sells. My only problem with them is paint dries up in the tip and makes them inoperable. Does anyone know how to prevent this?

Just rub the dry paint off before catchin a tag. The ones i rack dont do that. the only problem with mine is that you have to write at an angle so the paint is at the tip, otherwise it just pushes out air. That and the only store ive ever seen them at is 30 minutes away so i gotta drive a bit just for them

use thinned house paint and just pinch the dried paint off when youre about to catch a tag or before you go out

Does anyone have a marker tutorial for a diy marker/nib that will work with corrosive solvents/ink? I have tried browsing the 12oz threads but they are very lengthy with not a lot of knowledge and a whole lot of people b*tching. I have some xylene and some paint but no vessel.

Uh, I would personally want to throw away anything that has anything corrosive.
In our household we've been pretty lucky to no have too much damage from inks, paints etc.
I would be curious too to know though.

Durd if it's corrosive just use it fast... as for storing it for a long period of time, use metal or maybe glass. It comes in metal right? Then metal will be fine. As for a marker, get a shampoo bottle (cheap one, any size really ad long as you got enough ink) and make sure the cap on it has enough room for a nib to stick out a tiny bit and still screw on tightly, so it doesn't leak. empty it out, fill it up with ink and use a folded up strip of sock (rubber band to keep it tied and make it more snug). I'd say use something thin though for sure, paint will always work best in something with a valve... the plastic should be nice and thick on most bottles so don't sweat the corrosion. Have fun.

Or for the body just get a kiwi mop. If the ink is too corrosive for the nib then use above mentioned sock nib and it will work fine, maybe even better (I personally hate those big kiwi nibs)

Ive since solved the problem kind of. Like you said store it in glass and put in marker when you're ready to use it. I've just been making sure to use it faster. Actually using an AP Mini Drip..

My supplies for the daily deeds are pretty much the same...
-AP solid or Sakura, depending on what's laying around
-my 1 adaptor and a NY Fat, with an extra NYF as well
-maybe my toxic shocker with black pilot ink mixed with black Smash. Just got this marker for Christmas and I gotta say, I am impressed. I figured without a valve it would be weird but it flows great and doesn't leak like I expected. Definitely been putting this Lil beast to Great use

As for late night shenanigans, it's basically the same... these days if I'm out at nigjt I'm doing trains usually so it's like this:
-adaptor and 3 or 4 NYFs, I don't really use other caps
-the white hobo streak for El tankerinos
-12 foot telescopic ladder if we really getting busy
-and as much rusto as I can stuff in my bag. Usually like 12-15 cans.

Saw this used recently with 5 gal of bucket paint to do a whole car and I must say I was quite impressed at the time it took them to do the whole thing. I almost never want to do a panel ever again. It seems like a waste compared to what they did.

The one I had awhile ago was around 75 or 80 pounds, a big hefty folding one. I plan on getting a fully extendable telescopic one soon specifically for wholecars... they're around 30 pounds now
